"Olympic" Worthy Dogs in the Guinness Book of World Records

As we watch the Olympic games, lets look at the talented athletic dogs around us who excel in their sport.  Through training and dedication these top dogs have broken world records.

Surfing
New Guinness Book of World Records were set at the seventh annual Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition in Imperial Beach, California.
  • Most amount of dogs surfing on one board at one time (more than 10 dogs); and
  • Most amount of dogs surfing on one board at one time (more than 10 dogs) with two humans (Scott and Tyler Chandler). 
Diving

Vhoebe, a Belgian Malinois, broke records with a 31 feet 8 inches dive.

Swimming
Umbra, a lab mix, broke records when she paddled four miles in 73 minutes.

Sprinting
In 1.87 seconds Mach Blazer weaved between 12 poles and set a new top speed. 

Balance
An Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix named Sweet Pea set new records when she walked ten steps while balancing a 5-ounce glass of water.  She also balanced a can on her head and walked 100 meters briskly setting a new record of 2 minutes and 55 seconds. 

High Jump
Greyhound named Cinderella May cleared a 68inch hurdle at the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge National Finals.
