U.S. Hero Saves Dogs

Bear is a 1 1/2 year old mutt born on a United States Marine base in Afghanistan's Helmand Province. Bear's mother, Claire and another dog Jack were living on the streets until the military saved them and gave them MRE scraps.  Holly Barnes was deployed as a civilian contract employee and first met Bear when he was 6 months old and he brightened up their lives on the military base.
Holly worked with the Soldiers’ Animal Companions Fund, to raise the thousands of dollars so Bear Claire and Jack could be transported to the United States.
Holly officially adopted Bear and Bear loves his new home in Arlington, Virginia.  Claire is now living in North Carolina and Jack is living in Texas.
In the future Holly hopes to work with Bear to earn therapy dog certification so they can help soldiers returning to the U.S. adjust to civilian life.

Shelter dog to debut on Broadway in “Annie”!

A shelter dog once living the "hard knock life" is going to play the role of Sandy in one of Broadway’s most popular musicals, Annie.  She is a very sweet, 2 year old female terrier mix rescued from a city pound in Houston and looks like the original Sandy.  Currently she is in training, attending rehearsals, and hamming it up with all of the actors.  Three paws to Sandy!  In this day and age it is wonderful to hear such a heartwarming rags to riches story.  "Annie" will begin previews on Oct. 3 at the Palace Theatre and will open on Nov. 8.
